CLASS DESCRIPTION
TINY TOT CLASSES - Ages 3 & 4
*Student must be 3 years old by August 31st. Must be potty trained and use the restroom independently.
Music and dance engage the brain. It helps cultivate communication skills, contributes to creativity, imagination and helps foster physical and developmental skills.
Songs, rhymes and actions stimulate the growing brain and develop listening and social skills that will give children self-confidence and better prepare them for school.
PRIMARY BALLET - Ages 5 and up (New Dancers)
*No previous experience required
Introductory class to teach the fundamentals of dance movement, musicality, and class etiquette. Dancers are required to take a minimum of two consecutive years of Primary Ballet before moving on to the next level.
PRIMARY 1 BALLET - Ages 5 and up
*Previous experience required
Introductory class to teach the fundamentals of dance movement, musicality, and class etiquette. Dancers are required to take a minimum of two consecutive years of Primary Ballet 1 before moving on to the next level.
PRIMARY 2 Ballet - Ages 7 and up
*Prerequisite two consecutive years of Primary Ballet 1
Dancers are required to take a minimum of two consecutive years of Primary Ballet 2 before moving on to the next level.
BALLET 1 - Ages 9 and up
*Prerequisite two consecutive years of Primary Ballet 2
This class is designed to develop proper carriage of the body and alignment, dancers learn the five positions of the feet and arms. At this level dancers should be able to concentrate for the full hour and begin to apply new concepts and corrections from class to class. Dancers are required to take a minimum of two consecutive years of Ballet 1 before moving on to the next level.
BALLET 2 & 3
*Instructor approval. Prerequisite two consecutive years of Ballet 1
This is a class designed to build skills and concepts. Dancers will learn more complex coordination of the body, rhythm, and space. Dancers are required to take a minimum of two ballet classes per week. Dancer are required to take each level a minimum of two consecutive years before moving on to the next level.
PRE POINTE
*Instructor approval. Prerequisite two consecutive years Ballet 1
This class is for dancers in Ballet 2. The class will focus on muscle strength, proper alignment, and prepare the dancer to do en pointe in the fall. Dancers in Ballet 2 who seek advancement en pointe are required to take this class.
LYRICAL 1, 2 & 3 - Ages 10 and up
*Prerequisite two consecutive years of dance experience in either ballet, lyrical or jazz.
*Lyrical 2 & 3 are ages 14 and up with previous dance experience required.
Lyrical is a form of creative expression; a story set in motion. This form merges both ballet and jazz styles and is designed to express the emotion of the song with movement and style.
PRIMARY TAP - Ages 5 and up (New Dancers)
*No previous experience required
PRIMARY 1 TAP - Ages 5 and up
*Prerequisite two consecutive years of Primary Tap
PRIMARY 2 TAP - Ages 7 and up
*Prerequisite two consecutive years of Primary Tap 1
TAP 1, 2 & 3 - Ages 10 and up
*Prerequisite for Tap 2 & 3 is two consecutive years of Tap 1
Tap is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a
form of percussion. Tap is all about rhythm and is an excellent class to help dancers learn musicality
and timing.
PRIMARY JAZZ - Ages 5 and up (New Dancers)
*No previous experience required
PRIMARY 1 JAZZ - Ages 5 and up
*Prerequisite two consecutive years of Primary Jazz
PRIMARY 2 JAZZ - Ages 7 and up
*Prerequisite two consecutive years of Primary Jazz 1
JAZZ 1, 2 & 3 - Ages 10 and up
*Prerequisite for Jazz 2 & 3 is two consecutive years of Jazz 1
Jazz is a stylized, fast paced form of dance that employs many of the same concepts with ballet slight technical variations. Jazz is performed to upbeat music and is characterized by bold moved and sharp angles. Jazz students will focus on leaps, turns, strength and flexibility.
HIP HOP - Ages 9 and up
Hip hop class will include energizing warm-up to get your body ready for movement. Instruction on fundamental hip hop dance techniques and styles and choreographed routines that blend creativity and individual expression. There will be opportunities for freestyle and improvisation to enhance your dance skills.
